Stable pH for healthy coral growth
Excessive CO₂ levels in the ambient air can significantly lower the pH in a saltwater aquarium. This results in slowed coral growth, reduced calcification, and decreased biological stability of the system. Our CO₂ absorber removes carbon dioxide from the intake air of the protein skimmer, thereby contributing to a consistently higher and more stable pH level.
Our absorber material is a high-quality CO₂ adsorption granulate with high absorption capacity and reliable color indication. The granulate effectively binds carbon dioxide before it enters the aquarium system.
Benefits at a glance
Increases and stabilizes the pH value
Promotes coral growth and calcareous skeleton formation
Improves conditions for SPS, LPS, and soft corals
High-quality Spherasorb® Intersorb Plus granules
Clear color indication for monitoring remaining capacity
Low dust generation
Easy to use via the skimmer’s air intake hose
Suitable for saltwater aquariums of all sizes
Application
Connect the CO₂ absorber to the air intake port of the protein skimmer. The air flowing through is stripped of carbon dioxide before it enters the aquarium system. The service life of the material varies depending on room air quality, stocking density, and air flow rate.
The integrated color indicator shows the consumption of the absorber material and makes it easier to replace it in a timely manner.
Why a CO₂ absorber?
In modern, well-insulated living spaces, CO₂ concentrations are often significantly higher than natural outdoor levels. This increased CO₂ load can cause the pH value in the aquarium to remain permanently too low. By specifically removing carbon dioxide from the skimmer air, pH increases of 0.1 to 0.3 pH units can often be achieved—a noticeable benefit for corals and other calcareous organisms.
